With 20 years of experience as a secondary Spanish and English teacher — along with several years as an education consultant and instructional coach — I bring a depth of expertise that sets me apart from most Spanish tutors. Having worked across numerous American classrooms and grade levels, I have identified and refined the best practices that help students at every proficiency level truly succeed.
Over the years, I have created, tested, and perfected my own language-learning tools — techniques designed to build genuine confidence, excitement, and proficiency. My approach goes far beyond vocabulary lists and memorized phrases. I teach students to understand the underlying structure of Spanish so they can form their own sentences with authenticity and style. The result? Learning Spanish — even Spanish grammar — becomes genuinely fun. And as a bonus, students often find that their command of English improves along the way, just as mine did as a Spanish learner myself.
Many U.S. students live in English-only households, schools, and communities, which makes developing fluency especially challenging. Immersion may be the ideal, but it is not always available. That is why I focus on building a strong structural foundation — one that empowers students to communicate autonomously in Spanish, not by reciting memorized phrases, but by crafting their own unique expression. True language-learning only becomes joyful when a student can own it.
Within just a few weeks, my beginning students learn to read any Spanish word aloud with near-native pronunciation, and to spell any word they hear with accuracy — including knowing precisely where to place the accent marks. These are the very same methods I used to become fluent, and they work.
